This year, good news has been coming from the new energy vehicle market. Statistics from the China Automobile Industry Association show that in the first four months of this year, while China's automobile production and sales fell sharply year-on-year, the total sales of pure electric vehicles were 278000, a year-on-year increase of 65.2%, with a promising prospect. On June 2, Guangzhou and Shenzhen respectively announced that they would add 100000 and 80000 small passenger car increment indicators in this year and next. In principle, the increase quota should be configured with ordinary car bidding indicators and energy-saving car lottery indicators at a ratio of 1:1.


  

Miao Wei, Minister of the Ministry of industry and information technology, said recently that "the total investment in the whole industrial chain of new energy vehicles has exceeded 2trillion yuan." Wang Chuanfu, chairman and President of BYD Co., Ltd., also evaluated the current new energy vehicle market with "rapid development, exceeding expectations".






The market is bullish, citizens' consumption enthusiasm is high, and the new energy vehicle market is prosperous. However, a social survey conducted by sina.com in the first quarter of this year showed that nearly 70% of car owners regret buying new energy vehicles.






Complaints about increased subsidies






The latest survey of new energy vehicle owners shows that the mileage and vehicle quality are still the biggest "pits" of new energy vehicles at present. Nearly 70% of car owners said they regretted buying new energy vehicles, and more than 64% said they would not recommend new energy vehicles to their friends. For potential car owners, not affected by the tail number restriction policy has become the biggest driving force for their purchase, accounting for 50%.






"From 2015 to 2018, the number of complaints about new energy vehicles in China continued to rise, with more than 70% being quality complaints, including 64% for batteries and 18% for motors." Li Yang, Executive Secretary General of the national big data Alliance for new energy vehicles, said at the framework press conference of China's new energy vehicle evaluation procedure system held in February this year.






Corresponding to the increasing number of complaints is the continuous occurrence of spontaneous combustion accidents of new energy vehicles. According to the statistics of Shenzhen new energy vehicle application and promotion center, as of September 2018, there had been 8 spontaneous combustion accidents of new energy logistics vehicles in Shenzhen last year. In addition, in the emergency notice on strengthening the operation safety of new energy pure electric trucks issued by Shenzhen new energy vehicle application and promotion center on March 17, Shenzhen also said that "there have been many battery thermal loss control accidents during the charging and operation of new energy pure electric trucks" in recent years.






In terms of recall data of new energy vehicles, according to the data released by the State Administration of market supervision and administration, in 2018, 7 manufacturers were urged to recall 121400 defective vehicles involving 33 models; The defect is mainly caused by the failure of electric control, machinery, electrical appliance and battery system.






While the number of complaints increases, the government subsidizes the decline. According to the plan, the subsidy for new energy vehicles will be completely withdrawn by the end of 2020. In 2019, the subsidy policy declined significantly, and the sales growth of new energy vehicles slowed down in 2019. With the relaxation of the policy of foreign investment to enter China's new energy vehicle market, many people in the industry have criticized the development of new energy vehicles.






Government and enterprise work together to tackle quality problems






Although new energy vehicles currently have many technical bottlenecks, they also face many market challenges. In terms of ownership, in 2018, the ownership of new energy vehicles reached 2.61 million, accounting for 1.09% of the total number of vehicles. According to statistics, the number of new energy vehicles has increased by 500000 annually in the past five years, showing an accelerated growth trend. According to the statistics of sina.com, 38.1% of consumers chose to buy new energy vehicles mainly because of environmental protection. The strong market demand for new energy vehicles still exists.






In addition, in terms of policy and technology, China's new energy vehicles are in a favorable development atmosphere, and it is more likely that the comprehensive quality and after-sales service experience of new energy vehicles will be rapidly improved.






In terms of policies, in addition to the deregulation of purchase restrictions, local governments have issued many policies on defective vehicle recall, charging pile infrastructure construction, standardized charging training, industrial quality development, etc., providing policy guarantee for the development of new energy vehicles and related services after purchase. Taking Shenzhen as an example, on April 26 this year, Shenzhen held the sixth new energy vehicle electronic control and BMS technology seminar, and conducted in-depth exchanges on many topics, such as new energy vehicle active and passive safety technology, new energy vehicle electric drive technology scheme, new energy vehicle BMS safety, etc. In 2018, Shenzhen Municipal Transportation Commission, development and Reform Commission and planning and Land Resources Commission jointly issued the notice on accelerating the construction of taxi fast charging piles and supporting facilities in Shenzhen, requiring the city to complete the construction of 13400 sets of logistics charging piles in 2018. At present, Shenzhen has completed the construction of the world's largest fast charging station, covering an area of 20000 square meters, which not only effectively alleviates the problem of "charging difficulty", but also explores a way for the country to improve the replicable development of charging stations.






In terms of technology, new energy vehicle production and R & D enterprises have also increased their R & D efforts to speed up the improvement of the comprehensive quality of new energy vehicles. For example, BYD has deployed several R & D centers around the world. Its global R & D center will be unveiled at its headquarters in Shenzhen at the end of June, and Changzhou R & D center is also under planning and construction. In terms of endurance mileage, the endurance mileage of BYD new energy vehicles currently exceeds 300km, which is at the world-class level, and the endurance capability is still improving. At present, the number of patent applications for new energy vehicles in China ranks the third in the world, and the R & D and manufacturing level of power batteries has been greatly improved. Some domestic power batteries have certain international market competitiveness in terms of energy density, cycle life, safety performance, etc., and the power of the market to promote technological improvement is becoming more and more obvious.






Mazhenshan, deputy general manager of FAW Volkswagen Sales Co., Ltd., said at the "2019 China automobile Chongqing forum" held on June 4, "new energy vehicles are a process of reshaping the industrial chain. It took decades for gasoline vehicles to be built. Therefore, it will take 5 to 10 years for the era of new energy intelligent vehicles to have an embryonic form. In this field, we should be ready to fight a protracted war."
